BharatJal aims to make the Fundamental Right to Water (Guaranteed Under Article 21) an accessible and affordable proposition in India.

WHO ARE WE?

Bharat Jal is a water-tech initiative driving quality water treatment and making potable water accessible to the population through a network of Electric Motor Vehicles (EMVs). Founded in February 2017 under the aegis of Faat City Tech Pvt. Ltd, Bharat Jal is the brainchild of Mr. Feroz Malik.

Satellite water plants that filter 40,000 litres of water evert 24 hours are established at multiple locations in the Delhi/NCR Region and drinking water is supplied through electric 3-wheeler vending machines. Through this accessible delivery mechanism, Bharat Jal is revolutionising the process of accessing and delivering clean, drinking water in the country. While the focus of Bharat Jal has been on supplying treated water in Delhi, the ramp up plans include expanding to other regions in the Capital and eventually the entire nation.

Bharat Jal is supplying clean and safe drinking water to the local populations through Electric Mobile Vehicles (EMVs), making it easily accessible and affordable, while at the same time reducing associated pollution.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

BharatJal’s unique hub-and-spoke business model entails creating a countrywide network of satellite water filtration plants and attaching an individually owned fleet of EMVs that travel to densely populated areas to dispense clean drinking water.

The company concentrates deeply on curbing the negative impact of business operations on the environment. By using eco-friendly electric rickshaws as the delivery vehicles, paper glasses and reusable bottles for dispensing water, concentrated efforts are made towards reducing single-use plastic and associated pollution.

All delivery vehicles (akin to water ATMs) are equipped with tamper-proof technology and systems are linked end-to-end to prevent the distribution of water from other sources and unnecessary waste.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

Water input is received from State Boards & goes through a 4-stage filtration process without human intervention at the BharatJal plants

EMVs are automatically filled with cold, filtered water to full capacity at the BharatJal plants

Disinfection and sanitary checks carried out before the vehicle is dispatched for its destination

EMV travels to a crowded area for greater accessibility

Water is dispensed in 250 ml or 1 litre from the EMV through prepaid cards or by inserting a coin

Real-time data analytics visible and monitored through a central control room
